Missions:

January 4, 2010

Dear all,

It's the first week of the new year and the new decade! And the kids went back to school today - happily, for the most part :) That cleared the way for me to work on proofreading the Oroko Luke, so I was able to type up my questions for ch. 1 and send them off to Dan Friesen, and get through ch. 2-3. I'll try to get through 4 chapters a day from now on, which should help me finish this week; I believe the translation team works next week, so it would be nice for them to have my questions in hand. Right now the Friesens are at the annual missionary conference (CMF) in Bamenda; glad they can get that time of fellowship & fun.

This past week was enjoyable - fun times with friends (New Year's Eve party at church, as well as another game night with friends at their house), sorting and organizing in the modified room arrangement at our house, Kenneth & Laura playing with friends, and Mike and Shaun with some of Ray's expertise (and with my help once in a while) working on the house - the back rooms are all drywalled now!!). Not quite a total "holiday" with the house renovations, but it was more than a lot of people got! So now it is back to the regular routine, whatever that is :).

Well, this is going to be a short update for a change. Keep praying for Jenny - she started back on the Lyme meds today, so we're back in the waiting stage. Keep praying also for my uncle Jim - he had some tough times this past week (didn't want to come out of the coma) but is responding some now. Praise for the safe delivery of my friend Mel's baby this week, and pray for my friend Kimberley as she and her husband deal with the sudden death of her father-in-law. Pray for other friends not here in town who are going through hardships - one dealing with the situation of a husband who recently ran out on the family, and another dealing with a son who has sudden violent periods (she is wanting to see if there is something spiritual that needs to be dealt with as well, as the situation is puzzling the "professionals"). And pray for the Friesens as they finish up at CMF and head into a busy translation week.

Love,

Becky
